Celts Lose Regular Season Finale

 The University of St Thomas men’s basketball team closed out the regular season on the road Saturday, Feb. 26, at Texas-Pan American. Jeremy Lewis led the Celts in scoring with 23 points but it was not enough to push the Celts over the top losing 72-77.
Lewis got the Celts off to a good start draining a three-pointer early. The game went back-and-forth through the early part of the game until a 14-0 run by the Broncos gave them a 31-20 lead with 6:51 remaining on the clock. The Celts responded with a 13-3 run of their own to cut the lead to 4 points going to the half.
The Celts came out in the second half strong chipping away at the slim 4 point lead. Bryan Kaase drove hard to the hoop and converted a 3 point play to tie the game up at 48 with 13:59 to play. The tie was short lived when the Broncos pushed a 13-4 run on the Celts. The margin was too much to over come at the end. The Celts could only get it down to 5 point margin at the end.
The Celts had three players score in double figures. Jeremy Lewis with the game high 23 point and 8 rebounds; Anthony Medina with 14; and Caleb Williams with 10. The Celts finished the regular season with a 13-13 record.
Next weekend the Celts will hit the road for the A.I.I. Conference Tournament.
