Men's Soccer Takes Huston-Tillotson to Overtime in 2-1 Loss
10/10/2011
The University of St. Thomas men’s soccer team traveled to Austin to face Red River Athletic Conference leader Huston-Tillotson University on Thursday, Oct. 6 in the fifth of a six-game road spell for the Celts.

Freshman Delano Foster scored his third goal in as many games taking a pass from Jamie Head to put the Celts in the lead early in the first half. Once again the Celts dominated possession and created numerous quality scoring chances in the first half but could not seem to finish off the Rams.

In the 33rd minute under pressure from HTU, Celts senior Mike Enriquez mis-cleared a cross and it found the back of the net to bring the game back to a tie. Both teams battled hard in the second half with neither team able to find the go-ahead goal.
Unfortunately in the 105th minute, during the second half of overtime, HTU was able to capitalize on a loose ball and head it past freshman goalkeeper Jason Taffet for the golden goal. This put an end to the possible upset for the Celts.

The Celts, now at 2-3 in RRAC play and 2-6-1 overall will finish their long road stint against Southwest Assemblies of God University on Saturday, Oct. 10 with hopes of pulling back even in RRAC play.
