The St. Thomas Men’s Golf Team saw its first tournament action of the spring semester on Feb. 19-20 at South Padre Island Golf Club. The Senator Eddie Lucio Invitational was hosted by conference rival University of Texas at Brownsville. The Celts shot a yearly low round of 297 to tie for 2nd place in the first round.

The Celts were led by Freshman Zach Cabra and Sophomore Ryan Lyons, who shot 70 and 73 respectively. The Celts fell to 4th place in the final round after a score of 323. Cabra fired a second round 78 to finish tied for 6th place and notch his first top 10 finish of the year. Lyons final round 81 dropped him from a tie for 5th to 14th, earning him the best finish of his young collegiate career.
