Basketball Tryouts May 26The University of St Thomas men’s basketball program will host an open tryout at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26 at the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center on the UST campus.

The tryout is open to 2012 high school seniors and graduates with remaining National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics eligibility. Those unsure of their eligibility will be evaluated before the tryout.

Players must bring a copy of their high school transcript and test scores, if not included on the transcript. Players currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year institution and are interested in transferring, must bring college or university transcripts. Players should wear workout gear and be ready to play.

The tryout is free with the proper paperwork. The cost is $20 for those without an updated transcript.

Make a reservation to tryout by contacting Head Coach Todd Smith at (713) 831-7214 or email tsmith1@stthom.edu. Walk-ups will be accepted on the day of the tryout. Find directions and parking information on the UST website.

The men’s basketball team finished last season18-13 in only its third year of competition. Ten players will return for the upcoming season. St. Thomas is one of the top five universities in the NAIA Five Star Champions of Character for the 2010-2011 academic year and has been for four consecutive years. NAIA recognizes only 220 colleges and universities and 23 conferences with this designation.
