Intern Earns Awards

A friend, a course requirement and initiative proved a serendipitous and rewarding combination for a recent communication graduate.
Michelle Andrews learned of an internship at Intuit Inc. through her friend and fellow UST student, Ross Wilkinson. Andrews researched the company (best recognized for its flagship products, Quicken, QuickBooks and TurboTax) and liked what she learned. Since the curriculum requirements for her degree included an internship, Andrews applied at Intuit and was accepted.
While Andrews juggled a full-time job, a full course load and single parenting, she managed to earn two awards over the course of her internship. Her responsibilities required her to oversee 17 stores and for each of those stores ensure proper product placement and accurate inventory.
“It was my job to make sure that the stores had our entire products on the floor, that it was neat and organized, and had the best placement in the store,” Andrews explained. To accomplish all this, Andrews developed a strong rapport with the store personnel, who, no doubt, came to appreciate the assistance she provided. For her efforts, Andrews earned the Excellence in the Field Award and the All Star Award from Intuit.
Since graduating in December 2006, Andrews took a well deserved break and traveled. She recently accepted a position at Hewlett Packard.
