This summer, Dr. Daryl Koehn, director of the University of
St. Thomas Center for Business Ethics, co-hosted
a high-profile conference in Shanghai, China. The Business Ethics: Practices and Problems conference served as an avenue for numerous American and Chinese CEOs and an elite group of business ethics scholars to discuss various ethical challenges in the business world.

Koehn co-hosted the event with Professor Lu Ziaohe, executive director of the Center for Business Ethics/ Institute of Philosophy at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Koehn, who has developed a special interest in China, conducted much of her panel discussion in the Mandarin language. Cameron School of Business Dean Emeritus Dr. Yhi-Min Ho also attended the conference.

The main presentation examined various ways CEOS can act to create a more ethical organization. Panel members discussed the effects of new antitrust and labor laws in China, Koehn said.

“This was a wonderful opportunity to co-host a conference with the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the premiere academic institution in all of mainland China,” Koehn said.
