Poe Named to Volleyball Honorable Mention All-America Team

University of St. Thomas Lady Celts volleyball player, Lauren Poe. was named to the 2009 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Honorable Mention All-America Team.
The AVCA women’s volleyball All-America teams for the NAIA are selected by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee.
“Congratulations, Lauren, you have worked very hard for this honor; we are proud of you,” UST President Dr. Robert Ivany said.
The 2009 volleyball season is Poe’s third year as a Lady Celt. The junior communications major is an outside hitter for UST.
“I am beyond excited about receiving this honor for this season,” Poe said. “This couldn’t have been possible without my wonderful teammates and my amazing parental and athletic staff support. I am grateful for each and every one of them.”
This season, the Lady Celts volleyball team won the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) Conference Tournament for the second year in a row. At the tournament, Poe was named the Most Outstanding Player and also to the 1st Team All-Conference. The win advanced the Lady Celts to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship opening round, where the team ended its season.
