Students Organize Sept. 11 Anniversary Event

 The University of St. Thomas will host “9/11 Never Forget,” a memorial for the victims of the Sept. 11 tragedy. The memorial will begin at 11 a.m. on Sept. 10 on the Academic Mall outside the Chapel of St. Basil, 3802 Yoakum.
The program will open with a prayer at 11 a.m., followed by keynote speaker, United States Army Sgt. Kenneth Depew, a UST student and an Afghanistan veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart. After the speech, nearly 3,000 American flags representing the victim of Sept. 11 will be distributed to the audience. The flags will then be placed in the form of a cross into the ground of the Academic Mall on the lawn. The national anthem will be sung by UST students Ashley Worhol and Brittany Llagostera.
The event is sponsored by Office of Veteran Affairs, Campus Programming Council and Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society.
