Lady Celts Split Saturday Matches on the Road
The Lady Celts volleyball team hit the road for two matches on Saturday. Oct. 16. The first stop was in Tyler as the Lady Celts took on Texas College. The Lady Celts started out slow but turned it on as the match went on to a three-set win 25-23, 25-17, 25-13.
Courtney Johnson and Mallory Wendel led the way with 12 kills and 11 kills respectively. The Celts defense showed strong with 75 digs for the match. Four players had double digit digs for the match led by Brittany Down’s with 15.
After the match, the Lady Celts hit the road to play Wiley College in Marshall three hours later. The Celts got off to a strong start but could not keep it going. Wiley College pushed through for a 3-0 win 21-25, 19-25, 16-25. Casey Mulryan led the Lady Celt attack posting 11 kills. Brittany Downs led the way defensively again with 15 digs.
The Lady Celts return home this week for the first time in 3 weeks with two home matches on Wednesday and Saturday. The Dig Pink match against Dallas Christian will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20. The Senior Day match at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, against Southwest Assemblies of God, will honor five seniors on the team.
