Robert Brewer Performs at Monaghan Organ Recital

The University of St. Thomas Music Department will present renown organist Robert Brewer at the annual Monaghan Organ Recital at 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 14 on the University of St. Thomas campus, Chapel of St. Basil, 3802 Yoakum.
The recital will feature music by composers such as Louis Lewandowski, Paul Hindemith, Louis Vierne, Jean Roger-Ducasse and David Landes.
Robert Brewer has served as the organist/choirmaster at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the assistant organist at The Church of the Redeemer and at Chapelwood UMC. He has had several solo organ recitals at Westminster Abbey and has been the accompanist for vocal studios and the Houston Oratorio Society. He serves as Music Director of Houston Masterworks Chorus, a community chorus.
Brewer was educated at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music, Rice University, and the University of Houston. He received a master’s degree in music in organ in 1992 from Indiana University. In 1993, Selah published his anthem, King of Glory, King of Peace.
Fr. Francis E. Monaghan, CSB, was an important member of the UST community for 43 years. He was a music lecturer, and his legacy lives on in this annual organ recital.
