11/3/2010
Photo: Sister Damien Marie SavinoSr. Damien Marie Savino , FSE, will present, "Spiritual Hiking with St. Bonaventure: The Created World as a Path to the Spiritual" at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 in the Ahern Room, Crooker Center, 3909 Graustark. This is the third lecture in the “Words, Deeds & Arts” fall lecture series hosted by the Serra Club of Houston, Notre Dame Club of Houston and the University of St. Thomas.

According to St. Bonaventure, the great Franciscan Seraphic Doctor, the first steps of the spiritual journey begin by relating to the created world, which then become the entrance point and path to the spiritual world. She will reflect on this process in terms of its relevance to our own spiritual journeys and to contemporary questions regarding nature and the environment.

The evening will begin with a 5 p.m. Mass in the Chapel of St. Basil, 3802 Yoakum, followed by a reception and lecture in Ahern Room, Crooker Center. Admission is free for students with an ID and $20 for all others.
