Tony Melendez Concert Is Sold Out
The University of St. Thomas Catholic Outreach Program will host a Lenten Renewal Concert featuring internationally acclaimed guitarist Tony Melendez. The concert will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 27 in the Jerabeck Athletic Center Gymnasium, 4000 Mt. Vernon.
The concert will be coupled with Eucharistic Adoration and Reconciliation. A barbeque benefitting UST Campus Ministry will precede the concert. Serving begins at 4 p.m.
Born without arms, Tony Melendez taught himself to play guitar with his feet at a young age. He now brings his message of hope and inspiration to youth and young adults through his music ministries. Most notably, he was selected to perform for Pope John Paul II during the Holy Father’s visit to Los Angeles in 1987.
Since his performance for the Pope, Melendez’s music ministry has been extremely successful, culminating in the formation of an international nonprofit organization, Tony Melendez Ministries, which seeks to serve youth and young adults, particularly those who are underprivileged. Melendez’s visit to the University of St. Thomas is an incredible Lenten opportunity for young people and their families to grow in their faith and to praise God.
