Dr. Michele Simms Named Director of Center for Business Ethics
The University of St. Thomas has appointed Dr. Michele Simms as the director of the Cameron School of Business Center for Business Ethics. Simms is currently an associate professor of marketing and management and director of the Center for Faculty Excellence. She will hold the Cullen Trust for Higher Education Chair in Business Ethics.

Simms’ work in organizational and medical ethics spans three decades. She has 23 years of experience in teaching and program development in healthcare, communication and business school programs. She worked 13 years as a process consultant in leadership development, systems change and negotiation before joining the University of St. Thomas in 1999 as an adjunct faculty. She is recipient of several teaching awards and published in the areas of business ethics, business-public health partnerships, and social entrepreneurship. Simms earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan, master’s degree at Michigan State University and doctorate at Wayne State University.

"We are very fortunate to welcome one of the University’s most highly regarded faculty members, Dr. Michele Simms, to the Center for Business Ethics,” said UST President Dr. Robert Ivany. “She has won the admiration of her students, the trust of her peers and the respect of the business community. As the Center’s director, she will ensure that the University’s Catholic, Basilian values form the foundation of our understanding of ethics in the workplace."
The Center for Business Ethics at the University of St. Thomas strives to help business people and students make good choices that benefit themselves, their businesses and their community. The Center offers ethical leadership education programs and symposia, public lectures and conferences on business ethics, co-hosts the Ethical Leadership in Action Award and participates with the Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable whose annual scholarship award recognizes student contributions to the field of business ethics and leadership.

The Center for Business Ethics was previously directed by Dr. Daryl Koehn. Irwin Horwitz, visiting professor in management and marketing currently serves as Interim chair and director of the Center for Business Ethics. Simms will take the reins in August.
