Lady Celts Lose To Wiley College
The University of St. Thomas Women’s Basketball team fell to Wiley College Monday night 104-77. The defeat drops the Lady Celts to 5-8 for the season and 3-5 in Red River Conference play.
Hershiira Boone-Rodgers once again led the Celts in scoring with 26 points. Aujanee Armstrong added 20 points and six rebounds.
Despite the loss, the team remains determined and upbeat, said head coach Mike Ricks.
“We laid it on the line tonight,” Ricks said. “The outcome wasn’t what we wanted it to be but we were successful in so many ways that will be beneficial to us down the road. Losing is never easy but when you lose and still take positive steps towards building a foundation for this program, you really win.”
The Lady Celts’ next game is at home on Saturday, Jan. 14 against Jarvis Christian College at 2 p.m.
