A three-year starter, LeBuffe ranks 23rd all-time at CUA with 1,149 career points. He was the sixth player in school history to score 1,000 points, which he accomplished in only three seasons of play. As a senior, LeBuffe scored a game-high 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds in a 72-55 victory over Towson. Also that year he netted 22 points vs. local rival American University. Other career highlights included a 25-point, 18-rebound performance in a 69-56 victory over Gallaudet during his junior season and a 30-point game on 12 of 20 shooting in a win over Old Dominion in the Mason-Dixon Conference Tournament. LeBuffe was a teammate of two current CUA Hall of Famers, Jack Bruen ’72 and Bill Wilson ’69.

“I am very pleased to join the 1936 Orange Bowl champions, national champions in their division in baseball, basketball and football, several boxers, almost twenty women athletes, and Wally Pipp in the Catholic University Hall of Fame,” LeBuffe said.

LeBuffe’s basketball career ended with his graduation from CUA in 1970. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Gallaudet University in Deaf Education and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Temple University. He has worked in deaf education and in regular public schools as a teacher, principal, supervisor, director, assistant superintendent and superintendent in Delaware, North Carolina, New Jersey and Texas. He has been professionally published 15 times and has written three books about baseball.

Since 2007, LeBuffe has been teaching graduate level Educational Leadership courses full time at UST.
