9/5/2012
Jamie HeadThe University of St. Thomas men’s soccer team came from behind to defeat Texas College, from Tyler, Texas, 3-1 on a golden goal OT on Sept. 4 at Prairie View A&M.

A late goal from sophomore Jamie Head, in injury time, tied it up and the game winner came from Irvinn Ramirez in the 98th minute.

The Celts have had a string of injuries with two impact players out for the season. Senior captain Jack Brett, who didn't play the first match, is out with a torn lateral meniscus. Also, fellow senior Irving Escobedo tore his ACL and MCL in training. The team will band together as new leaders rise to the challenges of the 2012 season.

The next game is against the University of Houston – Victoria at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7 at Houston Amateur Sports Park, 12131 Kirby Drive, which is the soccer team’s home field. For admission, adults are $3 and kids are free.
