
The University of St. Thomas
women’s volleyball team played tough against the top-ranked, conference-opponent University of Texas-Brownsville on Nov. 2 in Jerabeck Gym. The No. 2 team in the
National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics got the best of the Celts in three sets defeating them 25-12, 25-19 and 25-15.
Senior outside hitter
Stephanie Biediger, who had 11 kills, one service ace and six digs on the night, had a strong showing for the Celts. Only Biediger and junior outside hitter
Kirsten Kubicek, who drilled 10 kills, had more than two kills for UST. Overall, the Celts hit just .052 in the match and recorded five blocks.
Shirley Paul led the defense with 12 digs, and freshman
Reagan Creely added 11.
UST drops to 16-15 with the loss, and the UTB Scorpions improve to 23-1 on the season.
The Celts
return to action for their last game of the regular season to host Our Lady of the Lake University at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3 in Jerabeck Gym.
