The search begins as the Office of Student Affairs is seeking the next spirited student commencement speaker to speak at graduation on May 18. Student Affairs will accept applications for student commencement speaker until 5 p.m. on March 15.

 

Serving as commencement speaker is a unique opportunity for a student to share his or her collegiate experience and leave their mark on the University of St. Thomas. The speaker will address the graduating class, parents, University faculty and staff, and special guests by giving a short speech during the commencement ceremonies.

 

All graduate and undergraduate students who either graduated in December 2012 or will graduate in May or August 2013 are welcome to apply. Qualified applications will have already met the Feb. 15 deadline to file to graduate. 

All interested students should prepare a five-minute speech, and submit the following information: 

•Full Name 
•A Draft of the Five-Minute Speech (Double-Spaced) 
•Major 
•Phone Number 
•E-mail Address 
•Home Mailing Address 
•Resume (Including Activities and UST Honors) 

Students may submit hard copy applications to the Office of Student Affairs, on the second floor of John H. Crooker Center, in a sealed envelope and addressed to the 2013 Commencement Student Speaker Search Committee. Applicants may also e-mail application materials to studentaffairs@stthom.edu with the subject line “2013 Commencement Student Speaker.”
