
The University of St. Thomas
women’s volleyball team went on the road this weekend, Oct. 26-27, to the NCAA III Southwestern University Halloween Tournament in Georgetown, Texas. The Celts played four tough matches and came up short going 0-4 on the weekend.
On Friday, the team lost to East Texas Baptist University 1-3 with sets of 24-26, 25-21, 14-25 and 26-28. The disciplined Trinity University gave the Celts its second loss of the day losing 0-3 with sets of 17-25, 11-25 and 15-25.
On Saturday, the Celts faced host team Southwestern University falling 0-3 with sets of 24-26, 23-25 and 15-25. Thirty minutes later, the Celts had its final match of the day versus University of Texas-Dallas. In a hard-fought match, the Celts came up shy losing 2-3 with sets of 17-25, 25-16, 29-27, 15-25 and 7-15.
With the support of the home crowd, the Celts will shake off the losses and battle its next Red River Athletic Conference opponent, University of Texas-Brownsville, at 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 at home in Jerabeck Gym.
