Friday’s game pitted the Celts against Wayland Baptist University. The Celts got off to a great start jumping out to a 10-point lead. Foul trouble plagued the team in the first half, which ended with the Celts clinging to a 34-31 lead.

The second half encompassed a series of runs from both teams with Wayland Baptist eventually edging the Celts 78-75. Amber Arceneaux-Francis led the Celts in scoring with 16 points. Maghen Lormand chipped in 15 points, Emily Sebo contributed 12 and Gaby Guzman had 11.

On Saturday, the Celts lost 73-63 to St. Gregory’s University. After trailing by as much as 18 points in the first half, the Celts were able to trim the deficit to 6 with 12 minutes to play. The team never closed the gap as St. Gregory’s was able to maintain their lead. Arceneaux-Francis led the Celts with 32 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

“We played hard this weekend against two very good teams,” said Head Coach Mike Ricks. “Obviously we aren’t happy with the fact that we lost two games, but we were able to see some areas where we need to improve. We will get in the gym and back to work.”

The Celts’ next game will tip-off at 7 p.m. on Nov. 21 at Houston Baptist University.
