The University of St. Thomas
women’s volleyball team came out strong beating Langston College 3-0 on Sept. 28 at home in Jerabeck Gym.
In three quick sets of 25-9, 25-3 and 25-7, the Celts had a team total of 28 kills, hitting .457, and set a season record of 25 service aces in a match.
Stephanie Biediger led all hitters with nine kills and nine services aces. Biediger was named
Hitter of the Week for the week of Sept. 17-23 by the Red River Athletic Conference.
Brittany Weiler had 22 assists and six service aces. Weiler had a team high of 29 assists in the
previous win against Texas College on Sept. 21.
The Celts are back in action on Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. when they take on Bacone College in Jerabeck Gym. During this match Head Coach
Kallie Noble will participate in Samaritan’s Feet Barefoot Coaching Movement to provide shoes and awareness for impoverished children. Noble will join thousands of coaches across the country and
coach barefoot to raise awareness and funding to help put 1,000,000 pairs of shoes on the feet of children through Samaritan’s Feet.
During the game, fans will be encouraged to donate to the organization by writing a check to Samaritan’s Feet. Fans, whether they attend the game or not, can also visit a
donation web page, created for UST volleyball, to support the organization. With that gift, an impoverished child will be given a new pair of athletic shoes.
