In its third straight win, the University of St. Thomas
women's basketball team defeated Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Jan. 5 in Waxahachie, Texas. The Celts jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in the 77-56 victory.
"We were really locked in defensively in the first half," said
Head Coach Mike Ricks. "When we defend and execute well, we play some pretty good basketball."
Amber Arceneaux-Francis led the Celts with her UST-career high of 36 points and 21 rebounds.
Emily Sebo chipped a season-high 13 points.
The Celts return home for a conference showdown with Huston-Tillotson University at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 in Jerabeck Gym. Ricks knows his team needs to keep momentum on its side before heading out for a stretch of five road games.
"We need to stay focused right now and get better every day," Ricks said. "If we keep working hard, we will give ourselves a chance to accomplish our goals."
