Cheer on Celts in Watch Party

 As the University of St. Thomas men’s basketball team competes in the first championship tournament game of its short four-year program, students, faculty and staff are invited to watch the game live at 9 a.m. on March 14 in the Council of Clubs, second floor of Crooker Center. The Office of Student Affairs will provide a free light breakfast for those who attend to cheer on the Celts.
The team will play will play the Georgetown College of Kentucky in the first round. Georgetown, a No. 13 seed, ended its season 23-8. UST ended its season 28-5. A formidable foe, Georgetown was the 1998 National Champion, and this is the college’s 22nd-straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament, and 32nd overall.
 The men's basketball team clinched an automatic qualification to the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Tournament when it won 69-63 against Louisiana State University-Shreveport on March 2 in the semifinals of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament.
The men's basketball team won its first Red River Athletic Conference title on March 4 with a 67-51 victory in the RRAC Championship, over conference tournament host and top-seeded Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
The RRAC also recognized five men's basketball players, naming three to its 2012-13 RRAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Team.
For those who cannot attend the free watch party on March 14, the game will also be streamed live on the NAIA website for a fee.
