Arts Society Tea Raises $30K in Scholarships

Carolyn Mann, Jack Doherty and Priscilla PlumbThe University of St. Thomas Performing Arts Society raised nearly $30,000 in a membership campaign that culminated in the Membership Tea on Nov. 6 at the River Oaks home of Dr. and Mrs. P. Michael Mann. More than 125 guests attended the event, which honored Kelli Cohen Fein and Martin Fein.

All net proceeds from the Membership Tea benefit scholarships for music and drama students at St. Thomas. At the tea, members had the opportunity to renew their membership, enjoy talented UST singers perform Broadway show tunes and learn more about upcoming Performing Arts Society events.

Guests included Membership Tea chairs Mary Ann McKeithan and Barbara Van Postman, as well as Jes Hagale, chair of “New Vision, New Stars” benefit concert.

The second annual benefit will be held Jan. 22, when the Houston Symphony will perform Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" at Jones Hall.
