During an all-day event from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 23, the Center, located at 4206 Yoakum Blvd., is open to the public to take a tour and celebrate its 10th year as a Center for Excellence at the University of St. Thomas.

Flynn Center for Irish Studies, rated among the top 10 Irish Studies programs in the country, celebrated the contributions of well-known members of the Houston Irish and Irish American communities at its annual Irish Gala held Nov. 9 at The Houstonian Hotel. The honorees were recognized for their contributions to the Center’s mission of preserving Irish heritage and culture.

University of St. Thomas William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies is listed as a “Useful Link” on the Safe-Home Programme Ireland website. Safe-Home is a national organization that seeks to assist older Irish-born emigrants to return to their homeland.

Moran and the Moran family have donated a sizable collection of Irish primary source materials and historical newspapers to Doherty Library. President Emeritus and History professor Dr. Joseph McFadden lent his expertise in selecting the materials for the donation.

The University of St. Thomas William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies will present “Intersection and Illumination: New Insight into Ancient Irish Tales,” an evening of traditional Irish storytelling with Susan Gallagher. The event will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15.
