Stockton Lectures at Taiwan’s Wenzao Ursuline College
Image: Hans Stockton With GroupDr. Hans Stockton, director and chair of the University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies, traveled to Kaohsiung, Taiwan from Oct. 31 – Nov. 5 as the ICUSTA exchange lecturer to Wenzao Ursuline College of Foreign Languages. Stockton was received by the Department of International Affairs’ chair, Dr. YuJane Chen, and her faculty colleagues.

UST Students Get Global Insights at UN Summer Program
During summer 2011, University of St. Thomas students Washington Massaquoi and Rakel Berg successfully completed a highly competitive placement program with the United Nations Intensive Summer Study Program (UNISSP) through Seton Hall University.

Volunteers To Sell Free-Trade International Crafts
Former UST employee Lisa Emmite Baker, a volunteer with the nonprofit organization Eternal Threads, will return to campus to sell free trade items hand-crafted by women in developing countries on August 30.

International Conference to be held on UST Campus
Representatives from six universities and five countries will convene at the 2011 U-6 Forum on University of St. Thomas campus from Oct. 12 to 14.

Dr. Rogelio Garcia-Contreras Presents Seminar at El Centro Fox
Dr. Rogelio Garcia-Contreras, assistant professor of International Studies and director of the UST Social Entrepreneurship Program, presented a seminar on social and economic development and poverty alleviation for government officials at El Centro Fox in Mexico on August 5 and 6.

Peruvian Government Honors Dr. Gustavo Wensjoe
The late Dr. Gustavo Wensjoe, former director of the University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies, was posthumously honored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru at a reception on June 2.

International Studies Honor Society Inducts 25 Members
Sigma Iota Rho, Alpha Phi, UST's chapter of the national honor society in International Studies, held its 15th installation of members on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Twenty five new members joined the society, including the first MLA graduate students specializing in International Studies.

Peruvian Education Project Hosts Family Day

Talk With Your Advisor About New Core Curriculum for Fall 2011
UST has made changes to the core curriculum to better integrate the core curriculum with academic majors. It is strongly recommended that every student meet with an academic advisor to determine which core curriculum track is most appropriate for the student’s individual course of study.
