International Conference to be held on UST Campus

Representatives from six universities and five countries will convene at the 2011 U-6 Forum on University of St. Thomas campus from Oct. 12 to 14.

The Forum was established in 2005 by presidents of Providence College (Taiwan) and the University of St. Thomas in Chile. UST was invited to join the forum in 2008. Dr. Hans Stockton presented UST at the 2009 Forum in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Dr. Randall Smith and Dr. Jon Taylor presented at 2010 Forum in Anhui , China.

The theme of the 2011 Forum is Global Cities in the 21st Century. UST will be represented by Rev. Charles Talar, Sr. Paula Jean Miller, and Dr. Jon Taylor. Additionally, 14 presenters from the following universities will present papers at the Forum — Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages (Taiwan), Ling Tung University (Taiwan), Anhui University (China), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (China), Universidad Santo Tomas (Chile), and the Institut Catholique d'Etudes Supérieures (France). Accompanying faculty presenters will be senior administrators from each participating university.

Established in 1981, the Center for International Studies is Houston's oldest degree-granting center of international higher learning.
