Travel Without Jet Lag at IFEST

Join the UST community and friends as they travel to different countries via food, music, dance, arts and crafts and celebrate the diversity Houston has to offer. The festival is from 7-11 p.m. on April 18 at UST’s Campus Life Mall, 3909 Graustark, and is free and open to the public.

The International Studies Society hosts the festival annually to celebrate diversity and promote cultural literacy through an evening of enjoyment.

ISS President Seth Romo, senior international studies major, said IFEST is a long-running event on campus and is the perfect way for students, faculty, staff  and visitors to have a good time while enjoying free food and entertainment.

“This year's IFEST is the 10th annual event, and we decided to make it the biggest one yet,” Romo said. “The support of the Center of International Studies and other campus groups has allowed us to continue having a free event with food trucks, drinks and great performances.”

IFEST will include local Houston food trucks To the Jeepney, a Filipino food truck, and Apaxtla Gro. Taqueria, a Mexican food truck.

Performances include a Lion Dance Team, Greek Festival dancers and Argentine dancers. Headlining the event will be native Houston band, The Beans, comprised of current and former UST students.

In addition to food trucks and live performances, IFEST will also provide free beer and wine. Students 21 and up should bring ID.

“I am hoping this year's IFEST feels like a block party where everyone comes out and has a great time,” Romo said.
