Expert Talks Fighting Global Poverty

Graphic: Center for International Studies LogoThe University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies is hosting a series on Careers in International Studies. For the Careers in Development, alumnus Philippe Nassif ’07, the Central Region Advocacy Director on the Policy and Advocacy Team at CARE based in Washington D.C., will speak on what it takes to join a career advocacy.
 

The lecture is at 1:40 p.m. on April 24 in Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center 201. At CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty, Nassif educates the public and members of Congress on the organization’s mission to eradicate global poverty. He also served as a field organizer in Florida for the Obama for America campaign during the 2012 Presidential Election cycle.
 

Nassif was regional political director for the bi-partisan U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and served on President Barack Obama's Advance Team at the White House. He has a bachelor’s in international studies from St. Thomas and a master’s in international conflict resolution. He is fluent in both Arabic and Spanish.

Also, CIS is hosting a Central Intelligence Agency Information Session at 12:30 p.m. on April 23 in Tiller Hall, 4121 Yoakum. Everyone is invited to learn about the CIA, its organizational structure, employment application process and how to obtain security clearance.
