Look Behind You!
Thursday, May 1, 2014 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
A Father and Son’s Impressions of “The Troubles” in Northern Ireland Through Photograph and Song With Steafán Hanvey

Using image and voice, anecdote and memory, the performance showcases the prize-winning photojournalism of Steafán’s father, Bobbie Hanvey, along with radio-edits of his interviews with some of Northern Ireland’s best-known figures.

Steafán’s storytelling complements and contextualizes his father’s work. He brilliantly blends his father’s iconic photographs of “The Troubles” of Northern Ireland with his own beautifully crafted words, music and lyrics, offering audiences a moving and memorable experience. (Robert O’Neill, John J. Burns Library, Boston College)

Together, father and son document the extraordinary in the ordinary, mothers and fathers, police and priests, the loved and the loveless, soldiers and paramilitaries, politicians and voters, poets, singers, painters, Travellers, the living and the dead.
