Grant Helps Piano Camp Reach Out to Inner-City Kids
This summer, 40 students attended the Music Preparatory School’s week-long piano camp, which introduces children to a variety of music. The Charity Guild of Catholic Women granted UST $15,000, making it possible for 92 students to attend one of MPS’s six camps tuition free. Read more

Music Professor Conducts the Blind
UST Chair of Music Dr. Glenn Garrido made Argentine history when he conducted the Argentina National Symphony of Blinds, a symphonic band composed entirely of blind musicians in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from Oct. 21-28.
Dr. Garrdio memorized the score to concentrate on gestures needed to help them with entrances and tempos, such as hitting the music stand with the baton, loud breathing and soft verbal instructions. Read more

|Music students at the University of St. Thomas have quality performance opportunities within the rich and diverse backdrop of a liberal arts curriculum. Students enjoy small classes, which allows more time for individual interaction with their professors. University of St. Thomas music alumni are in graduate schools, performing professionally and teaching and leading church music programs all over the country.
The Music Department at the University of St. Thomas provides students with a comprehensive background in music theory, music history and performance. With an emphasis on Western music, students participate in performances concentrating on vocal and instrumental music.
