Sunday Afternoon String Quartet Concert
Sunday, November 4, 2012 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
The Music Department and Music Preparatory School is very excited to treat you to our debut performance of the "Sunday Afternoon String Quartet Concert" at 1 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the University of St. Thomas Cullen Hall.
The event will be held in the early afternoon - just in time for you to enjoy fantastic music after your Sunday morning activities. Our program will feature the powerful String Quartet No.3 by Dmitri Shostakovich called, by the composer himself, "The War Quartet." Also, a movement of mature String Quartet No.23 by W.A. Mozart, and a piece by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's tumultuous String Quartet No.6 op.80, which is the last piece he wrote before his untimely death.
Performers are:
Dominika Dancewicz, Violin
Juliette Javaheri, Violin
Dawson White, Viola
Patrick Moore, Cello
As always, you will learn more about the context of this powerful, passionate and highly narrative music as we present a short talk before each piece. Be sure to bring friends and family to share this event with you!
