LeBlanc Garnered Seat on Education Law Association Board of Directors
12/10/2009
Dr. Robert LeBlanc, dean of the University of St. Thomas School of Education, is one of three new members appointed to the Education Law Association (ELA) board of directors. The board members were named at the ELA 55th Annual Conference. He will serve on the board for three years, and will utilize his experience as a professor and school administrator.
“ELA has been one of the most important professional associations for me since I began as a full-time faculty member in the graduate educational leadership program in 2002,” LeBlanc said. “The mix of professors, school administrators and attorneys guarantees lively and engaging conferences and publications.”
In 1969, he received his bachelor’s degree in education from St. Thomas, and returned to UST in 2002, as an associate professor in education. He was appointed dean of School of Education in 2008.
LeBlanc earned his master’s degree and doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston. Before coming to St. Thomas, LeBlanc worked at the Klein Independent School District as a teacher and administrator.
This year, LeBlanc also was named to the Archdiocesan School Council, where he will represent the University of St. Thomas. The purpose of the council is to advise His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo and the superintendents of the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in the implementation of the Lumen Pro Via strategic plan for schools.
The Education Law Association was established in 1954, and is a national nonprofit member association located at the University of Dayton. ELA promotes interest in and understanding of the legal framework of education and the rights of students, parents, school administrators, school boards and school employees in public and private K-12 educational institutions, as well as higher education.
