UST Residence Life Bring Smiles to Children's Faces
3/25/2010
The University of St. Thomas Residence Life Department recently brought smiles to the faces of young children living with cancer after handing out t-shirt pillows at the Texas Children’s Hospital.
Residence Life Director Yolanda Norman spearheaded the effort along with Alumni Volunteer Coordinator Tom Dooley and 30 students at this year’s President’s Day of Service event.
“It was great to be part of an effort that put smiles on the faces of children throughout the hospital,” Norman said. “They’re children and they should be smiling. I am happy to have helped bring some joy to their lives.”
Dooley described the giving of the pillows to the children as a near and dear experience to his heart.
“It was a moving experience for me having had family members who have dealt with cancer in the past,” Dooley said. “The Residence Life Department and the group of students from Guinan Hall should be proud of what they accomplished in the lives of these brave young children.”
According to Norman a total of 60 pillows were made for distribution to the hospital.
