UST Class of 1960 Holds 50th Reunion
6/29/2010
The University of St. Thomas Class of 1960 recently celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 12, with a Mass in the Chapel of St. Basil and a reunion reception in the Archaeology Gallery. Father James Farge, CSB, was the celebrant.
Amid the warm embraces and reminiscing, one highlight of the event was the reunion of Lee Butler and Chuck Dieterich with Father Patrick Braden. In 1958, the trio built a working Carbon Dioxide rocket. Dieterich and Butler were delighted to see that Fr. Braden had kept the rocket in his office. The rocket made an appearance at the reunion, but it was not ignited and its old glory was not put to the test.
The Class of 1960 Reunion Committee was instrumental in making the event possible. Members included Anne B. Heyburne, Garland Debner Pohl and Dr. Lawrence M. Ross. Pohl hosted a reception in her home on Sunday, June 13.
The reunion was captured on video by UST alumna Cimela Kidonakis. Watch the Class of 1960 50th Reunion video on UST’s YouTube channel.
