Dr. Beena George Named To Prestigious Outsourcing Panel

 Dr. Beena George, University of St. Thomas associate professor of marketing and management, was recently named by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) as one of a prestigious 14-member evaluation panel. These recognized industry leaders and scholars will select the world’s top outsourcing teams in best practices and innovation.
The IAOP is the global, standard-setting organization and advocate for the outsourcing profession. With more than 110,000 members and affiliates worldwide, IAOP helps companies increase their outsourcing success rate, improve their outsourcing RIO, and expand the opportunities for outsourcing across their businesses.
George, along with her fellow panelists, will use a rigorous and objective process to evaluate applications submitted by leading customer outsourcing teams for the inaugural Global Excellence in Outsourcing (GEO) award. The GEO award is the first and only award program recognizing outsourcing professional teams for their innovation and best practices.
“These panelists are uniquely qualified to identify best practices and innovation,” IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett said. “Many have extensive experience in selecting companies based on requests for proposals and others work directly with outsourcing professionals and firms that strive for excellence.”
Customer teams that win this prestigious award will be announced at the association’s annual conference, the 2011 Outsourcing World Summit, Feb. 21-23, in Indian Wells, Calif.
George’s sourcing management course at UST is recognized by the IAOP as a bridge program for training as a Certified Outsourcing Professional. The only other academic institution with this highly reputable distinction is the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Watch a video of George's sourcing management class.
George, a native of south India and a graduate of the Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata, India, has been teaching at UST since 2003. She received her doctorate from the University of Houston and since then has helped put the Cameron School of Business on the map with the IAOP as an Academic Alliance Partner.
