Sign Up for President’s Day of Service Projects
1/20/2011
Dr. Robert Ivany invites the campus community to roll up their sleeves and get to work at the President’s Day of Service from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 12. Founded in conjunction with Dr. Ivany’s inauguration in 2004, the President’s Day of Service is a time-honored tradition which gives the campus community an opportunity to truly embody the St. Thomas mission of educating leaders of faith and character.

For the seventh year, the President’s Day of Service offers a wide range of service projects. All Celts — students, alumni, faculty, staff and families — will have the chance to work side-by-side and support the University without leaving campus.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a breakfast with Dr. Ivany in Crooker Center. All projects begin at 9 a.m. Service projects include:

• Project Linus and Hug Pillows:
Making fleece blankets and pillows for children in area hospitals
(Great activity for younger children and families to do together)

• Refurbishing the wood benches throughout the UST campus
(Not recommended for children: Involves use of household cleaners, so dress accordingly)

• Indoor painting projects throughout the campus

A reception will be held at noon in the Old Bookstore following the completion of projects.

To sign up for projects, visit www.stthom.edu/dayofservice, e-mail mailto:dayofservice@stthom.edu or call Heath Whitaker at 713-525-3801.
