Hans Stockton Hosts Chinese New Year Banquet
3/1/2011
Dr. Hans Stockton, director of the University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies, hosted the annual Chinese New Year celebration of the Houston Taipei Society on Feb. 25. In its 50th anniversary year, the Society is the City of Houston’s first sister city relationship.

The evening was enriched by traditional Chinese music, audio visual presentation about life in Taiwan, and a keynote address by the Honorable Mayor Annise Parker. Parker’s comments were preceded by Joseph Chen, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston. More than 90 people were in attendance, among whom were elected officials, various officers in the city and county administrations, key community leaders and a group of UST students who studied in Taiwan over the Christmas break.
