Peruvian Education Project Hosts Family Day

Photo: Flanagan and Peruvian StudentsThe Peruvian Educational Project (PEP), in conjunction with the Graduate International Studies Group (GIS) at the University of St. Thomas, will host Kermese! Family Day and Fun Run on May 7. The celebration will take place from 11a.m. - 3 p.m. on the Academic Mall of the University of St. Thomas (3800 Montrose Boulevard, Houston, Texas, 77006). All proceeds benefit the Peruvian Educational Project.

Kermese! will feature activities that include a Fun Run, games, face painting, and moonwalks. Food, cultural dance troupes, and DJs round out the family-oriented event The event highlights the efforts of international charities, their role in society, cultural awareness, and the importance of educating children.

The Peruvian Educational Project was founded by the late Dr. Gustavo Wensjoe, former director of the UST Center for International Studies. PEP provides an opportunity for a select number of students (ages 12 to 17 years) to attend high school in Huaycán, an impoverished city outside of Lima, Peru.
