Lady Celts Take Down UT-Tyler Patriots 3-0

The Lady Celts volleyball team used a balanced attack to take down the UT-Tyler Patriots Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Jerabeck Gym 27-25, 25-17, 25-18. The Celts had 6 players with 5 or more kills. Leading the way was sophomore outside hitter Kirsten Kubicek with 8 kills followed by freshman middle blocker Kylah Dias with 7 kills. Defensively, Libero Brittany Downs set the pace with 16 digs.

After not playing for more than a week, the Celts came out a little slow but finished off a close first set 27-25. Dias and Kubicek led the way in the first set with 4 kills each and an impressive .375 hitting percentage. In set 2, Regina Trapp joined the hitting barrage with 3 kills on 8 swings with no errors leading the Celts to a 25-17 win. Set 3 was much the same. A fast start by the Celts led to a 25-18 win. Stephanie Biediger came off the bench to lead the way with 6 kills.

The Celts now 5-2 head to Dallas this weekend for the Texas Wesleyan Tournament. On Friday, Sept. 16, the Celts play Lubbock Christian at 11 a.m. and Texas Wesleyan at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Spet. 17, the Celts will take on Huston-Tillotson at 9 a.m. and finish out the tournament by facing Wayland Baptist at 1 p.m.
