Dr. Stephen Jensen’s recent book, The Ethics of Organ Transplantation, has been included in the filming of an upcoming episode of ABC’s show “Private Practice,” a spin-off from their original hit “Grey’s Anatomy.” Episode 522, scheduled to air at 10 p.m. on May 15, may include a shot of the book. Jensen is an associate professor of philosophy at the University of St. Thomas.

The Ethics of Organ Transplantation was published in September 2011 by Catholic University of America Press.  It is a compilation of essays and articles from theologians, philosophers, physicians, biomedical experts and an attorney exploring the ethics of organ donation. Contributors include Romanus Cessario, O.P., Thomas I. Cochrane, Thomas L. Cook, Jason T. Eberl, A. A. Howsepian, Robert E. Hurley, Thomas Hurley, Stephen J. Jensen, Christopher Kaczor, Witold Kania, David Matas, D. Alan Shewmon, Janet E. Smith and Leslie M. Whetstine.

After completing his doctorate at the University of Notre Dame, Jensen continued his studies in ethics with applications to medical ethics.  He is the author of Good and Evil Actions: a Journey Through St. Thomas Aquinas (The Catholic University of America Press, 2010) and several articles concerning St. Thomas Aquinas’ ethics, action theory and theory of knowledge.  He has been at the University of St. Thomas since 2007.  Jensen lives in Katy, Texas, with his wife and three children.
