
The University of St. Thomas
volleyball team came out swinging and never looked back on Sept. 1 handing Calumet College of St. Joseph, from Hammond, Ind., set scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-14.
Junior outside hitter
Kirsten Kubicek played big for the Celts, leading both teams with 10 kills and swinging at a .471 clip.
Reagan Creely contributed nine kills, and
Kylah Dias chipped in with seven. Aside from the six team blocks, the Celt defense was led by libero
Shirley Paul diving for 16 digs.
“I think we’re building confidence every time we are on the court together,” said Head Coach Kallie Noble.
The team won its third consecutive match of the season defeating Trinity International University, from Illinois, 3-0 with sets 25-22, 25-14 and 25-17.
Kubicek recorded her second double-double on the season with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Stephanie Biediger added 12 kills, and
Brittany Weiler dished out 31 assists.
