WBB Celts Sweep SAGU
2/11/2013
The University of St. Thomas women’s basketball team swept Southwestern Assemblies of God University by defeating them for a second time this season. The Celts bested SAGU, 70-55, on Feb. 9.
“This was a great team effort, and a real grind-it-out win,” said Head Coach Mike Ricks. “The girls understood the importance of this game, and it showed with the way we prepared and the way we played.”
The Celts head to Muskogee, Okla., later this week for a contest against Bacone College – a team who has won three in a row since losing to the Celts on Jan. 28.
Ricks knows his team will have to be ready to pick up the road win.
“Bacone will be ready for us,” he said. “We have to go up there with the mentality that our backs are against the wall and come out ready to fight.”
The Celts will play at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.
