MBB Start Tourney Play as 3 Seed

Photo: Bryan KaaseThe University of St. Thomas men’s basketball team finished the regular season on a six-game win streak, closing out Wiley College, 76-64, on Feb. 25. The win improved UST to 24-6 overall and 17-5 in the Red River Athletic Conference, and allowed UST to be the No. 3 seed for the RRAC Tournament.
 
Junior Bryan Kaase had his second straight game of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Travis Lampley had another double-double with 11 points and 10 assists. Wiley was led by Houstonian Dominic Jones with 15 points.

Kaase also earned recognition as RRAC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for Feb. 18-24. He holds the award with Brandon Davis of Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

The Celts finished the season tied for second in the conference and will be the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, which starts on March 1 at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. UST will play No. 6 seed Jarvis Christian College at 8 a.m. on March 1.
