Sutton Elected President of Statewide Student Affairs Organization
11/5/2007
University of St. Thomas Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Steve Sutton has been elected president of the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA). He was sworn in Saturday, Nov. 3 at a ceremony in Addison, Texas. Sutton will serve a one-year term.
“I’m honored to have been elected president,” Sutton said. “I’ve been involved in TACUSPA for about eight years and look forward to serving the organization in this capacity. The organization has helped me greatly in my professional development, and I look forward to helping the organization continue to succeed.”
TACUSPA is dedicated to the development of the student affairs profession in the state of Texas. The organization celebrates the diversity of its membership and embraces the worth of mentoring and role modeling relationships between veteran leaders and new professionals.
“My primary goal as president is to help our organization continue to develop the strategic plan, which we created over the last couple of years,” Sutton said.
That plan has four primary goals: to increase membership; engage the membership through improved services and participation in TACUSPA activities; to increase the knowledge and skills of the membership; and to advocate for the role of student affairs within higher education to both internal and external stakeholders.
