Joanna Palasota Receives Italian Cultural Center’s Highest Honor

 Joanna Palasota, Director Administrative Computing and
Institutional Research, was named the 2008 Christopher Columbus Award recipient by the Italian Cultural and Community Center in October. This is the highest honor given by the ICCC in recognition of for her years of dedication and volunteer service to the organization.
Palasota has been a a member of the ICCC since 1999, and received a four-year college scholarship from the organization. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Center from 2002-2005. She served as Board Secretary in 2002 and as President of the Board from 2003-2005.
After leaving the Board of Directors of the Italian Cultural and Community Center, Palasota continued to actively volunteer in leadership positions for the many events produced by the Center including the annual Gala/Auction and the annual Italian Festival. She also spearheaded on the I Madonnari Festival and Art Contest, which is a joint event between the ICCC and UST.
Palasota, who has been employed at UST for 15 years, is a two-time graduate of UST, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1993 in communication and computer science and a Master’s of Business Administration in 1996 with a concentration in management information systems
