Morgan Kelly Zamora Crowned Miss UST
4/29/2009
Morgan Kelly Zamora, a sophomore international studies major, was crowned Miss UST at the University’s inaugural Miss UST Scholarship Pageant on Sunday, April 19.
First runner-up was Vivian Nguyen, second runner-up was Mia Simon, third runner-up was Lauren Poe and fourth runner- up was Nicol Giron. Zamora earned the People’s Choice Award, voted by the students prior to the pageant, as well as the top spot for the interview, fitness and evening gown categories. Nguyen was voted most photogenic, and Emi Vasin was voted Miss Congeniality.
The pageant was spearheaded and hosted by UST freshman Nicole Hickl, who currently holds the title of Miss Black Teen Texas. Hickl wanted to launch a pageant on campus to “reflect the true inner and outer beauty that St. Thomas women possess.”
“Words cannot express how happy I feel about the success of the Miss UST Pageant,” Hickle said. “I was filled with joy and tears as I watched all the contestants grace the stage that afternoon. They all looked so beautiful! I am so blessed with all the support I had, and I can’t wait to keep this tradition going on for many years ahead.”
