Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, an autonomous community of Spain with the official status of a nationality. Catalan modernista architectural works like the Gaudí Cathedral and the Sagrada Familia Church are Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces. The Picasso museum and National Art Museum of Catalonia are only two of Barcelona’s many art collections. Residents enjoy the performing arts, cuisine and café culture late into the night.
