University of St. Thomas Catholic Social Justice Studies Program & The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers invite you to “The Exploitation of Africa: Then and Now” by Professor Richard Horstman at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5 in Ahern Room, Crooker Center.
The exploitation of Africa began early and continued on through the era of independence. The process continues now as the resources of the Continent are being acquired by other countries.
Richard Horstman is Assistant General Counsel, International, of Marathon Oil Corporation, which does business in 12 countries, including Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Kenya and Libya. He is the Chair of the Archdiocesan Mission Council and represents unaccompanied immigrant children through the Cabrini Center at Catholic Charities. He received a B.A. in Political Science from St. Joseph's College (Indiana) in 1975 and a J.D. from Ohio Northern University in 1978.
