Frozen Conflicts in the FSU
Monday, February 25, 2013 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM
University of St. Thomas and Houston-Baku Sister City Association speakers will speak on "Frozen Conflicts in the Countries of the Former Soviet Union," at from 5:30-8 p.m. on Feb. 25 in Cullen Hall.
Speakers for the event include:
  • Dr. Hans Stockton, Ph.D., UST, Chair of the Department of International Studies - Introduction
  • Ms. Irada Akhoundova, President, HBSCA – Welcome Speech
  • Dr. Jean-Phillipe Faletta, Ph.D., UST Professor – History of the Soviet Union
  • Dr. Ryan Kennedy, Ph.D., University of Houston Professor – Conflicts in the ex-USSR, including Nagorno-Karabakh
  • Mr. Mammad Talibov, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States – Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict as the Main Threat to the Regional Peace and Stability
  • Mr. Elkhan Agamirza, M.A. in Internal Relations, MBA – Khojaly Massacre: Crime against Humanity
  • Mr. Yusif Babanly, MBA, U.S. Azeris Network, Co-Founder – U.S. Peacemaking Efforts in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict
